WINDOWS VISTA AND AMD SELECT ROCKETPLANE TO SEND A PERSON TO SPACE

Flight is Grand Prize for Global Puzzle Announced Today

Oklahoma City, OK / Las Vegas, NV — Jan. 8, 2007 - To celebrate the upcoming consumer release of Windows Vista™, Microsoft Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Inc. today revealed the rules for “Vanishing Point,” a large-scale collaborative global puzzle game. Today, Microsoft confirmed online speculation that the eventual winner will secure a ride into sub-orbital space courtesy of Rocketplane Limited Inc., a subsidiary of Rocketplane Kistler, Inc.

Rocketplane was founded in 2001 with a vision to be a driving force in the future of commercial space flight. Rocketplane’s Director of Flight Operations and former NASA astronaut, John Herrington, will pilot the winner on their trip to space. Commander Herrington was on hand today in Las Vegas at a spectacular multi-media show projected onto the Bellagio Hotel & Casino fountains as Microsoft and AMD confirmed online speculation about the game’s ultimate prize.

"The Vanishing Point winner will get a glimpse at the ultimate vista: the view of space my fellow astronauts and I have been privileged to see before," said Commander Herrington. "One lucky player will feel several G’s of acceleration on the way up, experience weightlessness for several minutes, before the 'ultimate roller coaster' brings them back to Earth."

Thousands of participants around the world have been racing to solve puzzles prior to this announcement. More information and coverage of the game’s real world events is available at http://vanishingpointgame.com.
